Schools Must Have Home-Based Learning From 8 Apr, Pre-Schools & Student Care Centres Closed

All Schools Begin Home-Based Learning On 8 Apr

All schools will be required to use Home-Based Learning fully, starting Wednesday (8 Apr), announced Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Friday (3 Apr), in his nationwide address.

The new policy will begin next week, reported The Straits Times (ST).

Schools to begin Home-Based Learning for 3 weeks

Starting 8 Apr, all schools will be required to use Home-Based Learning to carry out lessons for students.

Pre-schools, kindergartens and student care centres will also be affected.

However, they will be providing limited care for children whose parents and guardians must work, and are unable to seek other care arrangements for their children, reported Channel NewsAsia (CNA).

Further limitation of social interactions

Previously, students were only required to have 1 day of Home-Based Learning weekly, as a preparatory measure for now.

PM Lee did not announce how long Home-Based Learning will be carried out for.

Although the measures aren’t ideal, we hope that everyone will cooperate to help keep the spread of Covid-19 under control.
