Singapore Vessel Success 9 Found With All Crew In Good Health
Just last week, unidentified persons boarded Success 9, prompting a search that lasted five days.

Thankfully, the search party successfully located the Singapore-registered vessel on Saturday (15 Apr).
According to the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), all crew members were found safe and healthy.
MPA said that it worked closely with the ship’s owner in the rescue of the vessel.
Additionally, it coordinated with the Information Fusion Centre (IFC) and Monrovia Regional Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC).
Commercial ship responds to distress call
On Sunday (16 Apr), MPA released a press statement announcing the good news.
It had been informed that Success 9 was located on 15 Apr at around 5pm Singapore time.
As it turns out, the ship was still off the coast of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire — where it had first been seized.
MPA noted that the commercial ship Monjasa Sprinter had picked up a distress call from Success 9.
At the time, the ship had just been passing by.

Following this, Monjasa Sprinter reported Success 9’s location to the latter’s Company Security Officer (CSO).
After that, the CSO informed MPA, which immediately began coordinating with the IFC and MRCC.
Authorities then deployed a Côte d’Ivoire Navy patrol vessel to confirm and board the ship.
MPA reported that the ship eventually arrived at Abidjan port with all its crew in good health.

As it stands, a group of unidentified persons boarded Success 9 on 10 Apr.

Following the incident, the tanker went offline after losing automatic identification system (AIS) transmission.
MPA reported that the ship was still uncontactable on 13 Apr — three days after initial contact.
Thankfully, search parties located the ship two days later.
Singapore-registered vessel successfully located
Kudos to the search team for working tirelessly to locate the ship and the crew.
According to the MPA, even nearby and passing commercial ships — like Monjasa Sprinter — had been asked to help.
Thankfully, all the crew escaped the incident unscathed.
In light of the incident, MPA asked all Singapore-registered ships to be cautious and regularly review their ship security assessment.
They should also report all actual and attempted pirate activity, along with suspicious sightings, to the authorities.
Hopefully, these preventive measures will reduce piracy incidents in the region.
