Minister in Thailand caught watching concert during budget meeting
Thailand’s Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Suksomruay Wantaniyakul, was recently caught watching a concert livestream in Parliament.
As she was tuned in on her iPad at around 8.50pm on Wednesday (9 Sept), other politicians were busy debating the country’s 2027 budget.
Stream was loud enough for public to hear
According to a Thairath report, the sound from the minister’s iPad was loud enough for observers on the mezzanine level to hear.
The concert in question was reportedly the farewell concert of a local rock band.
The promoter had offered livestream services for people who could not get a ticket to watch it live, which the minister seemingly took advantage of.

However, no other member of parliament raised complaints due to the noise, Thaiger reported.
Heated budget debate goes late into the night
The incident occurred during the second reading of Thailand’s 2027 Budget Bill, which oversees the expenditure of 3.78 trillion baht (THB) (S$145 billion).
The debate began on Monday (7 Sept).
According to Thaiger, the second reading stretched until 2am on Thursday (10 Sept), despite the opposition accusing the ruling party of stalling to avoid discussing an election collusion case.
The budget debate was also set to continue at 9am on the same day.
