Customers claim S’pore cleaning company took 50% deposits, then repeatedly rescheduled or failed to turn up

Cleaning company The Little Lion SG customers allege no-shows, poor cleaning and delayed refunds for months

Several customers have accused cleaning company The Little Lion SG of repeatedly rescheduling jobs, failing to turn up and delaying refunds after taking 50% deposits.

An MS News reader, a woman in her 30s, said that she paid a S$329 deposit in July for a S$658 post-renovation cleaning package, but the company never turned up for the scheduled appointment.

She said she was later promised a refund, but had to repeatedly chase the company for it.

Other customers have shared similar complaints online, including allegations of no-shows, incomplete cleaning and unreturned deposits.

Customer says company cancelled cleaning appointment

The woman told MS News that she had booked The Little Lion SG for post-renovation cleaning, formaldehyde removal, floor deep cleaning and vinyl coating.

She paid the 50% deposit of S$329 on 16 July.

Her booking form showed a scheduled appointment for 6 Aug, between 10am and 11am.

She said the appointment was cancelled the day before, and the company replied that it would process the refund.

The customer subsequently chased the company for updates.

On 18 Aug, she asked about the refund and was told an update would be provided soon.

In another message, she pointed out that two weeks had passed.

She said the company had also asked to reschedule the cleaning several times before agreeing to refund her.

Even after agreeing to refund her, they did not refund her until she “really pressured them” and threatened to escalate the issue by involving the authorities.

That was when they finally refunded her.

“They eventually relented and told us they would only refund if we take down the comments and any posts we made about them,” she told MS News.

The gall to even still make requests.

“We learned after our experience that they continued to do the same to others [of rescheduling appointments and not refunding them].”

Another customer shares screenshots of repeated rescheduling

Screenshots of another customer’s experience were shared with MS News, showing a separate booking worth S$538.

The customer paid a S$269 deposit on 28 Jul for a cleaning appointment scheduled for 3 Sept.

The screenshots show the company attempting to change the appointment time and date multiple times.

At one point, the company said a floor scrubber was still with another team and that another machine was down.

The customer eventually agreed to another appointment after being assured the work would be completed.

After multiple reschedulings and delays, including on the day of the appointment, the customer finally cancelled the appointment and requested a refund.

The Little Lion then delayed their refund.

Online reviews describe similar experiences

Several online reviews shared with MS News describe similar complaints.

A Google reviewer said she paid a refundable S$269 deposit and later requested it back after seeing other negative reviews.

She claimed the company “ghosted” her after promising to provide a proper cleaning team.

Another reviewer claimed the company did not turn up and that their refund remained outstanding despite repeated attempts to contact the company.

Other reviewers alleged that cleaners came late, arrived with insufficient equipment or left work incomplete.

One reviewer claimed a single cleaner arrived with a floor polishing machine, pail and detergent for a job that included formaldehyde treatment.

The reviewer alleged that parts of the home remained dusty and that the flooring still had patches.

Meanwhile, the company allegedly maintained that the formaldehyde treatment had been completed.

The MS News reader also claimed The Little Lion SG continued accepting customers despite the complaints.

She said she tested this by sending what she described as a fake enquiry while the company was allegedly not responding to her.

Alleged ex-worker claims company used discriminatory language on them and did not pay them

A netizen also claimed they had worked for the company and were not paid.

A screenshot shared with MS News alleged that The Little Lion SG had failed to pay the workers’ salaries.

Another social media post from a purported former part-time cleaner alleged that payment for four houses remained unpaid.

The person claimed the company had also instructed workers to carry out cleaning without certain equipment.

On top of those allegations, the worker said that he was called “insulting and discriminatory language”.

These remarks included “stupid Bangla workers” and “pariah dog”.

These allegations have not been independently verified by MS News.

Meanwhile, the woman who contacted MS News also alleged that some workers sent to other customers’ homes were inexperienced.

“They start by getting 50% deposit, rescheduling on the day off and will refuse to come or give refunds back,” she said.

“When they do come to your house, they do a horrible job because they employ inexperienced workers (that they dont pay) and again refuse to fix it or refund you.”

Previous complaints date back months

The complaints shared with MS News are not limited to September this year.

Facebook posts dating back to March and May warned others against engaging The Little Lion SG for post-renovation cleaning.

Another Facebook post from May this year similarly criticised the company’s post-renovation cleaning service.

The poster alleged that three teenagers were sent to clean their home and that the work was poorly done.

The MS News reader said that she wanted to raise awareness rather than “slander” the company, claiming the company had continued operating despite complaints from customers and workers.

She said she hoped the company would take responsibility for customers’ experiences and resolve outstanding refund issues.

“We truly believe they’ve been doing this for much longer than we initially thought and we would like them to take accountability for their actions,” she said.

MS News has reached out to The Little Lion SG and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) for more information.
