11 injured in Upper Thomson collision involving 2 buses
On Sunday (8 Dec), 11 people were injured in a collision involving two buses along Upper Thomson Road at around 12.30pm.
According to Channel NewsAsia (CNA), a Tower Transit bus rear-ended an SBS Transit bus as it was stopping at a bus stop.
Pictures of the aftermath of the incident have since circulated online.

The windshield of the Tower Transit bus appeared shattered from the impact, while the rear end of the SBS Transit bus was severely crushed.
At least three Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) ambulances and a fire truck were stationed at the scene.
Bus driver & 8 passengers sent to hospital
In response to MS News‘ queries, SCDF confirmed it was alerted to a road traffic accident along Upper Thomson Road towards Braddell Road at about 12.40pm on 8 Dec.
Nine people were conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), while two others, assessed for minor injuries, declined to be sent to the hospital.
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) also confirmed the Upper Thomson collision to MS News.
A 46-year-old male bus driver and eight passengers, aged between 25 and 79, were conveyed to the hospital in a conscious state.
Another bus driver, a 57-year-old man, is currently assisting with the ongoing police investigation.
Tower Transit bus driver suspended
A Tower Transit spokesperson told MS News that the bus involved — Bus 980 — was carrying 20 passengers at the time of the collision.
Two of them were conveyed to TTSH for medical treatment.
The Tower Transit bus had collided with another SBS Transit bus and a bollard while at a bus stop along Upper Thomson Road.
“[Tower Transit Singapore] would like to sincerely apologise to the passengers on both buses who were injured and inconvenienced by the accident,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also confirmed that the bus driver has been suspended pending a full investigation.
Speaking to MS News, SBS Transit spokesperson Grace Wu said that the bus involved in the collision — Bus 166 — was stationary at the bus stop when it was rear-ended by the Tower Transit bus.
“Unfortunately, our Bus Captain and six passengers onboard our bus were hurt and conveyed conscious to the hospital for treatment,” she said.
“Almost all of them including our Bus Captain have since been discharged and we wish them a speedy recovery.”
Both SBS and Tower Transit have expressed their commitment to supporting the injured passengers.
