Young woman tosses tissue paper onto closed bin, confronted by passer-by
On 25 Sept, a netizen shared a video of young woman who tossed used tissue paper onto a closed bin in Singapore.
Footage showed the woman merely looking on as the litter bounced off the lid onto the ground.
The passer-by, Gloria, who confronted the young woman and her group of friends, told MS News that the incident happened in Jalan Besar.

A video of the incident, which was first posted on the Singapore Incidents Facebook page, showed a group of youths standing near a common area with a green dumpster.
While talking to the rest, the young woman with a cap turned around to face the bin.
She then took a look and tossed a ball of tissue paper onto the dumpster.

The tissue bounced off the lid of the dumpster and dropped onto the ground.
Instead of picking it up, the young woman turned away and continued talking to her friends.

Tosses another tissue, but caught by a passer-by
In a later clip, the tissue is still seen on the floor while the group continued to chat.
From behind, a passer-by approached the group and at that moment, the young woman threw yet another piece of tissue paper towards the dumpster.

In response, the passer-by opened up her arms in shock, prompting the young woman to pick up the tissue paper and properly dispose it into the bin.
She also picked up the first tissue paper she threw.

Speaking to MS News, Gloria said that the young woman did apologise while throwing the litter properly.
Meanwhile, her friends “did not say or do anything”. She further claims that the group were students from China.
Gloria speculated that some individuals may be against touching the bin as they did not want to dirty their hands.
However, she believes that people should not be littering regardless.
Netizens criticised young woman for her bad habits
Netizens were disappointed in the actions of the young woman, chiding her for littering.
Many criticised her for her laziness and bad habits.
Some netizens question the young woman’s upbringing, wondering if parents or schools can help cultivate better habits.
