Woman in Thailand discovers highly venomous snake on her bed
A woman in Thailand recently discovered a venomous snake slithering on her bed at her home.
She shared a video of the snake on a Facebook group, only to realise it was one of the deadliest snakes in Thailand — a Malayan Krait.
Snake was seen slithering on her bed
At around 7.55am on 18 July, Facebook user Nattaporn Kosolinsree visited a group named “What is this thing?” and posted a video of a snake with black-and-white bands on its body.

The footage showed the reptile moving under a dark olive pillow.
“What kind of snake is this? Is it venomous?” the Original Poster (OP) wrote.
Netizens said it’s a Malayan Krait
Following her post, many netizens provided her with answers, saying it’s a Malayan Krait.
They added that the reptile is one of the most venomous species found in the country.
One user explained that the species possesses dangerous neurotoxic venom and is the most venomous land snake in Thailand, adding that it likes to hide in bedding and mattresses.
Translation: It’s a Malayan Krait; it possesses dangerous neurotoxic venom and is the most venomous land snake in Thailand on a drop-for-drop basis. It frequently hides in bedding and mattresses.

Another person noted that many experts suspect the Malayan Krait may be the hidden cause behind deaths attributed to Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome (SUNDS).
They also questioned whether the victims might have actually been bitten by it in their sleep.
Translation: Wait, how did it get here? Also, this type of snake loves to burrow under mattress covers. Many experts have hypothesised that cases of Sudden Unexplained Death Syndrome (SUDS) might actually be caused by being bitten by this snake after accidentally rolling over on top of it while sleeping.

Many netizens were curious to know how the reptile found its way to her bedroom. One netizen asked whether her house is located near a jungle.

OP updated netizens that she was safe
The OP later updated her post, saying she was safe and sound.
She said she covered the snake with a food cover to trap it and called someone to catch it.

In response to the questions in the comments, she said the bedroom in the video belonged to her house, which is located in Kanchanaburi Province.
She also added that her bedroom was separated from the main house. However, she had no idea how the snake entered it.
The OP concluded that she would be more cautious in the future.
