Workers’ Party Praised For Running Aljunied-Hougang Town Council With Efficiency & Compassion
Anything to do with finance is a tricky, complicated matter.
With bureaucracy in play, it’s natural to assume that financial matters will need longer time for processing.
After all, there are multiple layers to go through and no one wants to be responsible for any financial discrepancies or losses at the end of the day.
In Aljunied-Hougang Town Council, however, resident Mr Raymond Wee was surprised to learn that his interest waiver appeal for his father’s Service & Conservancy Charges (S&CC) was swiftly approved.
Time taken? Within 15 minutes.
Sharing his experience in a Facebook comment, he said the interest charged for 14 months’ worth of S&CC arrears, costing over $700, was waived based on medical and compassionate grounds.
Mr Wee has the utmost gratitude for the Workers’ Party-run Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC).
His comment, reshared by another Facebook user, has garnered 352 shares with over 20 comments from like-minded users.
Father racked up 14 months’ arrears due to poor health
Aljunied-Hougang resident Mr Wee wrote that his father owes the Town Council 14 months’ arrears due to poor health.
Being the filial son he was, Mr Wee said he assisted his father in getting medical aid and handled the necessary documentation.
He then went to appeal against the interest levied. Mr Wee wrote,
Within 15 minutes of waiting and 5 minutes of studying my appeal, my town council waived the interest charge of $700+ based on medical and compassionate grounds.
In the end, Mr Wee needed only to fork out the outstanding principle amount of $70 per month. The final amount cost him $980.
Everything is settled, he noted.
