Local Photographer Captures Stunning & Threatening Sky During Deepavali Downpour
Two days ago, on Deepavali, it started getting really, really dark. Lightning started to flash and the sky rumbled.
While most of us took the chance to cuddle under the sheets, local photographer Paul Lee saw an opportunity for a photoshoot.
An opportunity well taken — because of this gorgeous photo he captured, and which he later shared on Facebook group Nature Society (Singapore) last night (28 Oct).
S’pore sky bursts with lightning
On the Deepavali-eve, local photographer Paul Lee went on an adventure with his Olympus camera in the midst of the rain.
With the Olympus Live Composite mode – similar to iPhone’s burst mode – Paul managed to capture the sky turn amber while lighting struck the CBD area. The result is stunning.

The shot was timed so perfectly that it even shows the lighting bolts shooting through the sky from the clouds — something that normally happens within a split second.
More jokes about Thor coming to Singapore
When this photo was shared on Facebook, many netizens commended him on his superb photography skills.
Others, unsurprisingly, talked about Thor.
A Facebook user even shared this picture in private Facebook group 50 Shades of Singapore, and titled it “Thor is coming to Singapore”.
Granted, if the lightning god does exist, that picture Paul took would perfectly represent the deity’s arrival.
