Singapore Police Arrests 2 Suspects In Jalan Bukit Merah Drug Bust
While most of us were busy ushering in the New Year on Wednesday (1 Jan), a group of officers from Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were busy attending to an incident that reportedly involved drugs at Bukit Merah.
2 suspects were arrested following the incident.
Police & SCDF officers deployed
According to The Straits Times, the incident took place at Block 3 Jalan Bukit Merah.
The police were alerted to the case at around 6.32pm.
SCDF officers, including rescuers from the disaster assistance rescue team (DART) were also deployed to the scene after they were notified of the incident around 2 hours later at 9pm.
Bukit Merah standoff lasted 2 hours
According to The New Paper, an unmarried couple in the 50s had locked themselves in their flat unit on the 9th floor at around 6.30pm.
The pair apparently were bickering loudly at their window, occasionally sticking their heads out. The man also reportedly told the woman to “jump together“.
One of the 2 suspects had reportedly threatened to jump from the block, and a safety life pack was inflated as a “precautionary measure”.
