Deliveryman in S’pore stabs colleague over suspected affair with girlfriend, gets 4 years and 4 months in jail

Deliveryman stabs colleague after suspecting he has affair with girlfriend

A jealous deliveryman in Singapore was sentenced to four years and four months in prison after stabbing his colleague at a warehouse on Changi South Street 3.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, the attack occurred over the colleague’s suspected affair with his girlfriend.

Suspected that colleague was manipulating laptop & having affair with girlfriend

The court report revealed that the victim, 30-year-old Wu Weihong (name transliterated from Chinese), had sold a laptop to the assailant, 38-year-old Mohamad Dali, who later gave it to his girlfriend.

Mohamad discovered files on the laptop that required a password to access, but his girlfriend refused to provide it.

He suspected that Mr Wu was “manipulating” the laptop, fueling his belief that they were having an affair.

Additionally, he claimed that his girlfriend was selling items on an online shopping platform and had repeatedly paid for promotional features to increase visibility.

However, he doubted her ability to afford these costs, further convincing him of an affair between Mr Wu and his girlfriend.

Confronted colleague with knife

On 6 Jan, at around 7:50 pm, Mohamad argued with his girlfriend and then drove to Punggol Plaza to purchase a kitchen knife.

While continuously questioning his girlfriend about her alleged affair with Mr Wu, which the girlfriend repeatedly denied, the suspect drove them to the warehouse where he and the victim worked.

Upon arriving at the warehouse, the girlfriend remained in the car while Mohamad confronted Mr Wu with the knife, reports Lianhe Zaobao.

Video footage presented in court showed Mr Wu moving goods when Mohamad suddenly appeared, brandishing the knife and charging at him.

Mr Wu attempted to step back and defend himself.

However, he stumbled and fell on the steps while attempting to escape, giving Mohamad the opportunity to swing the knife at him.

He raised his hands in defence and eventually fled to the second floor, where he hid in a room.

Mohamad ultimately left the scene, discarding the knife.

Mr Wu called the police for help, and police apprehended Mohamad on the same day.

Sentenced to 4 years & 4 months in prison

Mohamad pleaded guilty to one count of intentionally causing grievous hurt to another with a dangerous weapon and one count of intentionally injuring another with a dangerous weapon.

On Friday (18 Oct), he was sentenced to four years and four months in prison, along with three strokes of the cane.

According to Mr Wu’s medical report, he sustained scalp injuries, a skull fracture, multiple cuts on his left hand, and a fracture to his left tibia.

He subsequently received 30 days of medical leave for hospitalisation.
