A cleaner who declined to be named, told Shin Min that they had only recently noticed the sign and has since become more careful when crossing the road.

Most of the residents interviewed were unaware of the accident and some were even surprised to hear about it.

Canberra resident realised cyclist died only when he saw sign

However, a resident of Block 589D named only as Mr Yang (transliterated from Mandarin) said he vaguely remembered seeing two bicycles at the side of the road at about 9pm that day.

Three men were assisting, but the 65-year-old couldn’t see whether anybody was injured as his view was blocked.

He initially assumed that it was a minor accident but realised that someone had lost his life only when he saw the police sign.

Thus, he warned children to be especially careful when around the area.

Shin Min understands that one of the cyclists was crossing the road when he was hit by the other cyclist for an unknown reason.
