Motorcyclist gets run over on AYE after skidding, sent to hospital by SCDF
A motorcyclist fell on the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) towards Tuas after skidding. The incident occurred on 17 Oct at around 10.30pm.
In the video posted on the Facebook page Singapore roads accident.com, a motorcyclist ahead of the one filming was seen splitting lanes between cars.
Suddenly, that rider skidded and fell onto the road. With no time to react, the motorcyclist behind him ran him over, visibly bumping upwards.
The victim’s vehicle also continued spinning wildly from the fall, with the second motorcyclist also crashing into it despite trying to brake.
Footage from the aftermath showed various affected cars and motorcycles parked on the rightmost lane of the AYE.
Paramedics attended to the injured victim, preparing to move him into the waiting ambulance.
The person filming also took a photo of what appeared to be two motorcycles in a pile, with the victim lying next to them.
The police told MS News that the accident involved three cars and three motorcycles. They added that the 28-year-old male victim was conveyed to the hospital in a conscious state.
Police investigations are ongoing.
Netizens warn of slippery roads on rainy reason
A netizen said that due to the rainy season, roads were often wet. They added that the white strips that denote lanes could be more slippery when wet, suggesting it caused the skidding.
One commenter criticised motorcyclists who performed lane-splitting when other cars slowed down, saying it gave the riders too little time to react to such accidents.
Others wished the motorcyclist a speedy recovery from his injuries.
