Victim of Clementi stabbing incident was grassroots volunteer
Editor’s note: An earlier version of our article mentioned that the alleged suspect was a grassroots volunteer, which was based off other reports. People’s Association (PA) has since clarified that he is “not a member of any PA grassroots organisation”. We have amended the article.

More details have emerged since the shocking Clementi stabbing on Monday (21 Oct).
According to The Straits Times (ST), the victim was involved in grassroots activities of the Trivelis Residents’ Network, which serves the Trivelis estate in Clementi Avenue 4.
This was confirmed by PA in a statement released on 22 Oct.
“With the consent of the family of the deceased, we confirm that the deceased was a grassroots volunteer. The PA grassroots network and the Grassroots Advisor are deeply saddened by his demise,” it said.
“More information about his service to the community will be shared in remembrance during the funeral wake, which will commence on 23 October.”
A 50-year-old suspect was arrested by the police, while the 41-year-old victim was identified to be Mr Winson Khoo, who was reportedly the vice-chairman of the Trivelis Residents’ Network.
While earlier reports say that the suspect was involved in grassroots activities of the same network, PA said this was not true.
“We would have preferred to clarify this only after the police have formally charged the suspect and released his identity,” it stated.
“But to prevent the public from being further misled by this inaccuracy, we have decided to clarify the matter quickly.
At present, it’s unclear how the pair had known each other.

ST said the pick-up point is directly in front of the Trivelis Residents’ Network office at the foot of Block 311B.
