Migrant workers who held signs in Dakota didn’t report well-being concerns: MOM
A group of migrant workers were spotted holding signs outside a Build-To-Order (BTO) worksite in Dakota.
A photo of the scene was posted on Reddit, with the OP mentioning it was taken on Thursday (24 Oct).
Though the signs were unintelligible, they were being held up by five migrant workers in civilian clothes, while another worker in a construction hard hat and vest was seen speaking to them.

The Reddit post garnered 830 upvotes and 141 comments in just 16 hours, sparking widespread discussion and speculation about the reason behind the scene, with some suggesting it might be related to pay issues.
Migrant workers appeared to be holding signs outside Dakota One BTO worksite
The photo, which has since been deleted, appeared to be taken in front of a worksite along Jalan Satu, judging from the images on the hoarding behind the workers.
According to Google Maps, similar images are seen at the worksite for Dakota One, a BTO project.

Dakota One comprises three residential blocks of 19 storeys high each, with a total of 421 units of three-room and four-room flats, according to HDB.

It is estimated to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.
MOM engaged migrant workers with signs in Dakota
In a Facebook post on Friday (25 Oct), the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said it was aware of the post.
After engaging the migrant workers involved, they shared that they were not owed salary payments, the ministry said.
They also did not report any concerns over their well-being, it added.
The police are investigating the incident, MOM understands.
Migrant workers protested in 2022 over unpaid salaries
In October 2022, nine migrant workers held up signs outside a building in Ang Mo Kio, alleging that contractor Shanghai Chong Kee had not paid them.
Later, it was established that a total of 268 migrant workers were owed salaries by Shanghai Chong Kee.
The construction firm eventually winded up in early 2024 amid an MOM probe over salary offences under the Employment Act.
