55-year-old man found dead in AMK flat after neighbours notice smell, had not been seen in 2 weeks

Dead 55-year-old man found in AMK HDB flat, allegedly very sick 2 weeks ago

A 55-year-old man who lived alone was discovered dead in his Ang Mo Kio (AMK) Avenue 3 HDB flat.

According to Shin Min Daily News, his neighbours noticed a foul smell emanating from the unit. They later contacted the police.

Officers entered the Block 101 fourth floor unit at around 8.15am on 27 Oct and found the deceased occupant.

They believed the man to have been dead for several days, with the stench of decomposition reaching the ground floor.

An anonymous female neighbour said that the resident used to live with his parents in the flat.

However, his father passed away several years ago and his mother moved to his sister’s house.

She revealed that the family was European and the deceased was the only one who spoke a little Chinese.

The neighbour said the deceased went out almost daily as a private-hire driver and she met him often.

However, the last time she had seen him was two weeks ago.

She alleged that he looked pale and weak and had told her he was ill. The neighbour advised him to see a doctor.

A couple who lived in AMK Block 101 told 8world News that they would encounter the deceased occasionally on the ground floor.

The police told MS News that they found the 55-year-old man lying motionless in the residential unit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

They classified the case as an unnatural death but do not currently suspect foul play.

Police investigations are ongoing.
