Electrocution kills 18-year-old charging phone on Malaysia bus
A young man died from electrocution on a bus in Malaysia while charging his phone.
The incident occurred on 1 Nov at Penang Sentral bus terminal in Butterworth.
At around 6pm, the victim boarded an express bus scheduled to leave for Kuala Lumpur.

According to the bus driver, a passenger heard the victim screaming 10 minutes later and foaming from the mouth.
The police currently think the 18-year-old attempted to use a socket on the bus to charge his mobile phone.
However, for unknown reasons, the socket instead sent a surge of electricity to the youth, who suffered burn marks on the fingers of his left hand from the electric shock.

The accident also caused the end of the charging cable to melt and the phone to overheat.
The bus driver called for an ambulance, which arrived at around 6.20pm.
Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The autopsy report confirmed the cause of death as electrocution. No other injuries were found on the body.
Special task force formed to investigate incident
Malaysia’s Minister of Transport Anthony Loke announced the formation of a special task force from the personnel of various transport agencies.
They impounded the express bus and would investigate the cause of the incident in order to prevent future cases.
Mr Loke also gave his condolences to the deceased’s family.
