Man finds gecko in his drink halfway through finishing it

A man in Malaysia made a shocking discovery while drinking from a plastic cup — halfway through his beverage, he spotted a gecko floating inside.

Horrified, he immediately recorded a video, which has since gone viral on TikTok, garnering more than 411,400 views.

Plastic cup with gecko came with lid

The man shared his experience in the video, saying: “[The] Maggi is so spicy. It’s so spicy that I needed to drink water. I was rushing to drink water.”

He then panned the camera to show the gecko floating in the drink.

He added that he had already drunk from the cup when he discovered the gecko’s presence.

The drink, which came with a lid, appeared to be bought outside.

However, it’s unclear whether the gecko was already inside when he bought it or if it somehow entered through the straw hole after he brought it home.

Reflecting on his strange find, he joked: “If tomorrow, I become a gecko-man, I don’t know ah. If I’m not stuck to the ceiling, I’ll be hiding [on a wall]. I’ll surely be stuck to one of them.”

Netizens share own creepy-crawly encounters

Many viewers were amused, with some joking that the gecko was just “extra flavour” or protein.

Others played into the joke, telling the man he’d soon become a “gecko-man” after drinking his reptile-infused beverage, in a nod to Spiderman’s origin story.

Some shared their own horror stories of finding unexpected guests in food and drinks.

One person commented that he once thought he was chewing boba in his drink, only to realise it was a fly.

Another shared that while making a chocolate drink, she felt something soft touch her lips, which turned out to be a lizard.
