Singaporean actor Ryan Lian slashed outside NEX on 22 Nov
On Friday (22 Nov) evening, Singaporean actor Ryan Lian was slashed at a taxi stand outside NEX mall in Serangoon.
He was reportedly sliced at least thrice on his face, which will likely leave scars post-recovery.
Mr Lian, who is best known for his role in ‘Ah Boys to Men’, said he is considering retiring from show business after the attack.
‘Ah Boys to Men’ actor attacked by 21-year-old man
Mr Lian was reportedly discussing work matters with a friend when the attack happened.
A man came at him with a knife, slashing him at least three times on his face.
Mr Lian and his accompanying friend managed to fight off the assailant, but both suffered injuries in the process.
Mr Lian’s friend, who works at a hair salon in the mall, contacted his colleague for assistance. The colleague subsequently contacted the authorities.
Meanwhile, two medical personnel who were passing by rendered first aid to the pair.
Considering retirement after attack
According to Shin Min Daily News, Mr Lian was discharged from the hospital on Monday (25 Nov).
Recalling the incident, the actor said he was lucky to have quick reflexes, which helped him survive the attack.
His condition is currently stable, with the exception of the slash marks on his face.
Throughout his four days of hospitalisation, his girlfriend and team had taken good care of him, especially since the doctors told him the injuries would leave facial scars.

“They know I value my looks, and that I am very upset over what had happened. So, they try to cheer me up every day with small treats like ice cream and chocolate,” he said.
Mr Lian is currently trying to maintain a positive outlook and will take the aftermath of this attack in stride.
If he no longer receives invitations to star in shows, he will consider retiring from the scene.
Assailant charged with voluntarily causing hurt
The assailant, identified as 21-year-old Aaron Samuel Yukon, has been charged with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.
Aaron has been held at Woodlands Police Division since his discharge from Changi General Hospital.
The next hearing will take place on Friday (29 Nov).
