The incident was captured on dashcam by a car that narrowly avoided being hit by the van, and the footage was later shared on SG Road Vigilante’s Facebook page.

Reversing on a main road

The dashcam vehicle was travelling along Upper Serangoon Road, preparing to merge onto Serangoon Central via a left-turn slipway.

As it slowed around the bend, the camera caught sight of a white van reversing on Upper Serangoon Road towards the junction with Serangoon Central.

It’s unclear why the van was reversing, but as the dashcam vehicle neared the merging line at the end of the slipway, the van continued to reverse at speed across Serangoon Central.

The van bounced over the road divider, landing on the slipway and narrowly missing the dashcam vehicle before crashing into a pillar on the sheltered footpath next to the slipway.
