Motorcyclist killed in accident with Tower Transit bus

On Wednesday (27 Nov), a motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a Tower Transit bus along the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), near Lorong 2 Toa Payoh exit. The incident occurred at about 10.25 am.

Footage of the aftermath of the accident has since circulated on social media.

In a 27-second clip uploaded on Facebook, the accident seemed to have occurred at the left-most lane of the expressway.

Multiple Singapore Police Force (SPF) and Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) personnel were seen tending to the aftermath of the fatal collision.

A blue tent pitched by the Police was spotted at the accident site.

In one of the pictures included in the clip, blood can be seen pooling near a helmet on the road, presumably from the deceased.

Additionally, at least one ambulance car was also seen parked at the scene.

Motorcyclist died at the scene

In response to MS News‘ queries, SCDF confirmed that they were alerted to the road traffic accident along PIE towards Changi, near the Toa Payoh exit.

An SCDF paramedic subsequently pronounced one person dead at the scene.

Speaking to MS News, the Police shared that the victim was a 52-year-old male motorcyclist.

They also added that a 27-year-old male bus driver was arrested for driving without due care and attention causing death.

Tower Transit, the operator of the bus involved in the fatal accident, later posted a statement regarding the fatal collision on its Facebook page.

 

“No words can fully express our condolences and apologies to the family and loved ones of the motorcyclist,” the statement reads. “We are making every effort to reach out to them to provide all the necessary assistance and support during this difficult time.”

They also shared that the bus involved in the accident, operating on Service 966, was carrying 30 passengers at the time of the accident.

Fortunately, none of the passengers were injured in the collision.

The bus operator also confirmed the arrest of the bus driver and added that they will be assisting the Police in investigations.

Police investigations are ongoing.
