Man gets electrocuted while visiting girlfriend in Thailand
On Thursday (5 Dec), a man was electrocuted to death in Phuket, Thailand.
According to Thairath, 33-year-old Thura Kyaw had travelled from the United States (US) to meet his girlfriend after being apart for six years.
The couple were heading to a restaurant in the Thalang district at around 9.30pm when Mr Kyaw slipped on the wet ground.
He then reached for a streetlamp to steady himself.
Unfortunately, the streetlamp was faulty and had a live wire, which electrocuted him and rendered him unconscious.

Despite attempted CPR efforts from bystanders at the scene, Mr Kyaw did not regain consciousness.
A medical team then sent him to Thalang Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A friend of the victim’s girlfriend shared that the deceased arrived in Thailand around a week ago to see his long-distance girlfriend.
“I was having dinner at the restaurant when they arrived,” they recounted. “His girlfriend was walking ahead of him, and he slipped on the wet ground while trying to keep up with her.”
A local, Phiew, said he saw the man fall to the ground with his leg touching the pole. He said he tried to assist him but was zapped himself.
“I successfully removed his leg from the lamp and then called an ambulance,” he told the media.

Provincial Electricity Authority officers investigating the scene discovered that the streetlamp was emitting a current of 220 volts, according to the New York Post.
They temporarily cut off the power to prevent further accidents and notified the Phuket Highways Department for repairs.
