S’pore job listing advertises up to S$10K pay for dual role with senior duties, base salary is S$1K

S’pore job ad for PA and HR dual role slammed online over S$1,000 base salary

A Singapore job listing advertising a headline salary of up to S$10,000 a month has gone viral after jobseekers discovered that the guaranteed base pay was just S$1,000.

The listing sparked outrage online, with many calling the pay misleading given the scale of responsibilities involved.

“This is absolutely insane,” a Reddit user wrote after reposting the listing on the platform on Monday (22 Dec). “Scrolled down and expected to see S$3K to S$4K.”

“Holey moley, ONE THOUSAND?!?! What insanity is this?!”

Dual role combines PA, HR and sales leadership duties for just S$1,000 base pay

The job advertisement, posted on job-seeking platform Indeed, promotes a Personal Assistant cum Human Resource Manager role with a stated salary range of S$3,000 to S$10,000 per month.

However, readers who scrolled through the full listing found that the guaranteed base salary was only S$1,000. The rest of the pay is tied to incentives and bonuses.

Moreover, the job scope for the position seemed to span multiple senior functions.

According to the listing, the successful candidate would serve as the “right hand to the co-founder”, reporting directly to him.

On the human resources front, the role involves managing the entire recruitment process for sales telemarketers.

This includes screening applications, conducting first-round interviews, shortlisting candidates and onboarding new hires. The listing specifies that candidates must identify “aggressive, outspoken, and results-driven” sales staff.

Beyond HR duties, the role also requires leading and motivating a team of sales telemarketers.

Responsibilities include overseeing outreach to a database of 6,000 contacts, coordinating lead generation, tracking performance, and managing incentive structures tied to closed cases.

The listing describes the role as the “engine that drives our sales pipeline”.

On top of this, the employee is expected to handle administrative duties such as preparing and managing paperwork and legal documents, as well as coordinating multiple group chats involving buyers, agents, bankers and the co-founder.

Incentives highlighted, but concerns persist

The job ad states that performance incentives can reach up to S$1,900 per month, with a retention bonus of up to S$3,400 after 12 months.

Total potential monthly earnings are listed as up to S$6,300, excluding CPF.

However, netizens remained sceptical.

In the Reddit thread, one user highlighted another listing from the same company advertising a “full-commission” telemarketer role with earnings of up to S$10,000 a month but zero basic pay.

Netizens say part-time jobs pay more

Online reactions were swift and harsh.

The low base pay quickly became the main focus of criticism, with many netizens saying the figure was buried deep in the listing.

Several users pointed out that part-time roles often pay more than S$1,000 a month, questioning how such a low base salary could be justified for a full-time position.

Others criticised the practice of advertising a high headline salary without clearly highlighting the low guaranteed pay upfront.
