Mother watches from hill as daughter’s plane takes off
As we grow older and build lives of our own, we spend less and less time with our parents, leaving them yearning to spend more time with us.
To see her daughter a little longer, a mother in China climbed a hill to watch her daughter’s plane take off.
The woman’s daughter shared a video of her mother watching on, standing alone atop the mountain. It quickly went viral, touching the hearts of netizens aplenty.
Mother climbs hill to see daughter’s plane depart
The daughter, Ms Hui, told Yangtze Evening News that she was flying back to her workplace, Hangzhou, after spending the Spring Festival at her hometown in Yan’an.
Her parents had brought her to the airport before wandering around, as they had never been there before.
They then learned from a local that there was a hill where they could watch planes take off.
Unexpectedly, Ms Hui’s mother set out to climb said hill.
Ms Hui said her mother then messaged her asking which of the planes on the tarmac was hers, so she told her the colour of the aircraft.
Daughter spots mother atop the hill
Despite knowing that her mother was on the hill, Ms Hui said she didn’t expect to spot her mother.
“I had no idea where she was, or whether the plane would be to my left or right as it taxied, so I never thought I could film my mother.”
However, as she took a video of the scenery during takeoff, she saw her mother atop the hill.
“That day, my mother happened to be wearing an orange dress, and I saw a tiny dot on a distant mountain peak,” she shared.

“When I zoomed in, it really was her. I thought she was waving, so I excitedly waved back from inside the cabin.”

When she arrived at her destination, Ms Hui learned that her mother had also been taking pictures of her plane during takeoff.
Additionally, she received a message from her father, saying that her mum had climbed atop the hill just to “see her a little longer”.
