Elderly woman yanks passenger in priority seat by the hair, allegedly infamous train seat hogger
Priority seats on public transport are meant to make commuting easier for those who need them most.
However, a recent incident on board a Hong Kong train took an unpleasant turn when an elderly woman allegedly tried to force another passenger out of one.
A viral video showed the older woman grabbing a young woman by the hair and appearing to kick her while both were seated on the moving train.

Netizens later claimed that the older woman was notorious for hogging two seats with her bags.

The video, posted on Saturday (9 May) by Threads user @ba_azusa, showed the altercation taking place on Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR).
Each row of seats on the MTR has two priority seats, marked with large smiley faces in red squares.
In the clip, both women were seated in the priority seats.
For reasons that remain unclear, the elderly woman suddenly grabbed the younger woman by the hair and started shoving her, seemingly trying to force her off the seat.

She also appeared to stomp on the younger woman’s calf while using her legs to push her away.

Despite being physically attacked, the younger woman remained silent and calm throughout the incident, and did not appear to retaliate.
Other passenger tries to get elderly woman to stop
Meanwhile, another passenger seated beside them tried to talk the elderly woman down.
“Let go, you’re hogging the seat and not letting others sit down,” she said, while nudging the elderly woman.

Another photo shared on Threads showed the elderly woman bent over behind the younger woman’s back.
It is unclear whether she was trying to hide her face or using her body to push the younger woman off the seat.

The third passenger had also stood up by then and was seen watching the scene with concern.
According to the original poster (OP), the younger woman eventually moved to another seat.

In the comments, several netizens claimed they had encountered the older woman before.
“That woman is very infamous,” one commenter said, alleging that she was often seen on the Tung Chung Line at around 6pm, where she would usually hog two seats during the after-work rush hour.
Another netizen appeared to back up the claim with a photo of the same woman placing her belongings on an empty MTR seat.

The netizen also alleged that she had previously refused to let two other elderly passengers sit down.
