Singapore Airlines and Air China aim to boost travel connectivity between Singapore and China with new agreement
Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Air China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work towards a deeper commercial partnership, with the goal of giving travellers more choices, flexibility, and value when flying between Singapore and China.
The agreement could see both airlines expand their codeshare partnership to cover more destinations between Singapore and mainland China, within China, and beyond both countries.

If approved by regulators, the collaboration would also allow the two carriers to coordinate flight schedules, explore joint fare products, and work together on marketing and revenue-sharing arrangements.
SIA and Air China plan to expand codeshare services
Air China and SIA first began codesharing on selected flights in 2016.
At present, both airlines codeshare on services between Singapore and Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Shanghai.

Under the new MoU, the carriers are looking to build on this existing arrangement by adding more destinations to their codeshare network.
They also plan to deepen cooperation between Air China’s PhoenixMiles and SIA’s KrisFlyer frequent flyer programmes, giving members more ways to earn and redeem miles across both airlines in future.

Beyond flight options and loyalty benefits, SIA and Air China are also expected to share expertise in areas such as ground handling, catering, and in-flight service.
Partnership aims to support tourism and business links
Air China President Qu Guangji said the agreement builds on the strong relationship between both carriers as Star Alliance members.
He added that Air China hopes to further strengthen its partnership with SIA by widening codeshare arrangements, improving frequent flyer programme cooperation, and advancing joint venture plans.
According to Mr Qu, the partnership will help both airlines offer more convenient travel options and a broader range of services for passengers flying between Singapore and China.
SIA Chief Executive Officer Goh Choon Phong also welcomed the partnership, noting that Air China’s wide network in China would complement SIA’s operations.
He said closer cooperation between both airlines would improve travel options and connections for customers, while also supporting tourism, business, and cultural exchanges between Singapore and China.
