Man apprehended after allegedly taking inappropriate video of cosplayer
A man was apprehended for allegedly filming an upskirt video of a female cosplayer at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai on 28 July.
The incident occurred during the Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong (ACGHK), 15 minutes before the five-day event ended.
ACGHK, one of the biggest pop-culture events in the region, held its 27th edition from 24 to 28 July and drew in thousands of visitors.
Man nabbed by cosplayer’s boyfriend & event staff
In a video shared on Instagram on 29 July, the perpetrator is seen wearing a Popeye shirt and holding a Pokémon paper bag.
According to the captions, the incident took place in Hall 3, where the man was allegedly spotted secretly filming a female cosplayer.

The footage shows the suspect being held by three individuals near the convention exit.
One of the apprehenders is allegedly the cosplayer’s boyfriend, who is dressed as the character “Sieg” from the Japanese superhero show Kamen Rider Zeztz.
An event staff member is also seen holding onto the suspect’s shoulder, telling him that he is “famous” now and has nowhere to run.

Pointing to the alleged boyfriend, the perpetrator says, “I’m not even fighting back, but he is grabbing me very hard.”
The staff and the cosplayer retort, saying they were not pinching him nor were they being forceful.

The two also said they have called the police.
Man detained at the convention
In the latter half of the video, the suspect is seen sitting on a small ledge on the convention floor.
Another man in a black shirt, who appears to be another event staff member, stands in front of him.
When the suspect tries to reach into his pocket, the second event staff member grabs his hand and pulls it away.

The suspect then questions, “I want to call my family, can’t I do that?”
However, the staff tells him ‘no’ and says, “Every time I look away, you try to leave. You think I wouldn’t know?”
Unable to do anything, the suspect could only sit back down and wait.
As a crowd begins to form, the event staff seen earlier reappears and tells onlookers to move back.
Authorities later arrived and handled the situation, though it is unclear what actions were taken against the man.
