Woman calls kids’ pep talk hotline after feeling lost in life
No matter how many friends you have, feeling a little lost in life often leaves you unsure of who to call.
For one woman in the US, the solution was to call the Peptoc Hotline. The hotline has encouraging messages from kindergarteners at West Side Elementary in California.
Moved by the kids’ innocent messages, Yanni Zhang shared her experience calling the hotline in an Instagram Reel posted in early July.
“Sometimes the words we need most are the simplest ones,” she captioned her post.

“The call was honestly much more emotional than I expected,” Ms Zhang told MS News.
She said she came across the initiative on her social media feed. She decided to call it out of curiosity, not really thinking too much of it.
Unexpectedly, she found herself tearing up upon hearing the little kids’ innocent yet sincere advice.
In the video, different children can be heard saying short messages. Messages include “Be grateful for yourself”, “I trust that you can make things work”, and “Try it again”.

“Being an adult means dealing with all kinds of responsibilities and overwhelming emotions,” she said. “So listening to the purest and simplest words from them reminds me to slow down and appreciate how far Iâve come.”
Woman comforted by kids’ innocent messages
Ms Zhang said she felt comforted and lighter after hearing the messages.
“Itâs crazy how the kid me needed adult me, but adult me desperately needs kid me now,” she told MS News.
She said she shared about the experience as she often posts content about finding small, tender moments in everyday life.
“This felt like one of those moments that deserved to be shared, because I hoped it might brighten someone elseâs day the way it brightened mine,” she said.
I hope those kids can call this number when theyâre older and hear themselves tell them these things.
Hotline created by two educators in California
Peptoc Hotline is the brainchild of artists and educators Asherah Weiss and Jessica Martin in 2022 after witnessing their students’ joy and resilience amid challenges, including the pandemic and wildfires.

It shot up in popularity just two days after its launch. The hotline has helped people all over the world, including cancer patients and emergency ward staff.
To help keep this life-saving initiative going, Ms Zhang wrote a comment under her post urging others to donate to the cause.
