Mr Baey, who is also Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), uploaded his footage on 9 Aug.

“Some stuff at National Day Parade that TV audience might not see,” he wrote.

Mr Baey’s first video showed staff removing the blanks left on stage from the gun salute.

They crossed the stage quickly, trying to leave as unnoticed as possible.

Blue dugong balloons catch attention of audiences

NDP 2026 included performances that looked back into Singapore’s past.

As a tribute to the country’s seafaring heritage, performers danced amid models of sailboats and marine life balloon floats.

Among these, the blue dugong balloons caught particular attention, as they “swam” gracefully through the air.

One Reddit user even declared the dugong balloons as the “cutest thing” in NDP 2026.

Several others agreed, calling the “round and fat” dugong adorable.

Mr Baey’s second video showed the performers hard at work to make the dugong balloon swim.

Moving at a brisk jog, one of the staff at the head of the balloon repeatedly pulled on and released a string to give it a graceful motion.
