Traffic enforcer shot for refusing to release impounded motorcycle
A traffic enforcer was shot dead by a motorcyclist in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, Philippines, at around 5.48pm on Saturday (8 Aug).
He had reportedly refused to release the suspect’s motorcycle, which was impounded after the rider was found with multiple violations.
Suspect had multiple traffic violations
According to Inquirer, the victim and his colleague had flagged down a motorcycle carrying the male suspect and a woman who were not wearing helmets.
They then discovered that the motorcycle’s registration was already expired.
Allegedly, the male driver also had no valid driver’s license.
Abante News Online also reported that the suspect tried to bribe the enforcer to let him off, but the victim refused.
The vehicle was then seized for impoundment and was left at the scene to be towed.
Victim dies while receiving treatment
Several hours later, the suspect returned to the scene and repeatedly demanded that the enforcer release his vehicle.
When the enforcer refused, the suspect allegedly pulled out a short firearm and shot him in the temple before fleeing on foot.

The victim was rushed to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead at around 7.30pm while undergoing treatment.
Suspect arrested and found with illegal drugs
Operatives of the Dasmariñas Component City Police Station arrested the suspect later the same day following a coordinated manhunt operation.
They recovered the firearm allegedly used in the crime.

The suspect was also allegedly found in possession of 2.40 grams of methamphetamine with an estimated value of 16,320 pesos (PHP) (S$342).
He is currently under police custody and is set to face charges for murder, violation of Section 32 of Republic Act No. 7166 (COMELEC Gun Ban), and violation of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
