Man shocked to receive Android phone instead of iPhone he ordered via Shopee
A Thai man complained in a Facebook group that he had received an Android phone after ordering an iPhone on Shopee.
The post, which was made on Sunday (16 Aug), went viral, gaining over 3,000 shares and comments.
Product turned out to be Android phone
According to photos accompanying his post in the Facebook group “We Are Consumers”, he placed an order for an iPhone 17 Pro Max on 9 Aug at 4.40am.
The device was priced at 52,019 baht (around S$2,000).

However, after he received and unboxed his parcel, the item inside turned out to be an Android phone.
He turned on the smartphone, which displayed “Hello” in Thai alongside a “Start” button to proceed.

He attempted to solve the issue by reaching out to the Apple Flagship Store on Shopee.
“What the hell did you send me?” he asked.
The consumer received an automatic message, warning him that the language used violated the Terms and Conditions of Service.
Netizens chimed in with potential reasons behind hiccup
In the comments section, netizens offered plausible scenarios as to what may have happened.
Several people suggested that his product could have been swapped by delivery staff after it had been shipped out.
One netizen commented that the parcel was suspicious, saying the store would package items in a hard box and ship exclusively via DHL.
They recommended that the OP follow up directly with the courier service, adding they were certain the store wasn’t a scammer.

Likewise, one user argued that the store wouldn’t have scammed the OP; rather, a courier worker likely swapped the products during delivery.
The commenter also noted that, given the item’s high price, the OP should have bought it in-store rather than ordering it online.
Translation: 1. Official mall stores are unlikely to scam you—just look at all the repeat buyers. 2. I think it got tampered with in transit and swapped out for a cheap Chinese knockoff. 3. At over 50,000 baht, you might as well just walk up to the booth and buy it in person. There are way too many scammers around these days.
