Smell leads to discovery of body inside aircraft wheel compartment at KLIA
The body of an unidentified person was discovered hidden inside an aircraft wheel compartment at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 on 27 Aug morning.
Engineering staff overseeing the plane detected a foul smell from the compartment before making the discovery.
According to The Star, the body was discovered at 6.55am on a plane that had just arrived from Tokyo, Japan less than an hour prior.
Dead for more than 72 hours
The body was found lying face down in the tyre storage area on the right side of the aircraft.
It is believed that the individual has been dead for more than 72 hours.

Following a police report at 7am, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Forensics Unit investigated the scene.
The body was then sent to Serdang Hospital for further examination.
Authorities believe the deceased to be in their early 20s. There has been no clear confirmation of the person’s gender.
The individual had been wearing a white hoodie with an image of a dragon on the back and the word ‘OAKLEY’ printed on the front.
They were also dressed in light blue jeans, a brown leather belt, socks, and black sports shoes.
No form of identification was found on the body.
Investigations underway
Investigations are underway to determine the individual’s identity and cause of death.
Authorities found no injuries on the body. They have classified the case as a sudden death.
Police urged the public to not speculate on the case, but to contact authorities if they have any relevant information on the case.
