Carla Jeffery dies at age 33, best known as Bree in ‘Disney’s Zombies’ franchise
American actress Carla Jaran Jeffery died on Tuesday (1 Sept) at the age of 33.
She is best known for her role as Bree in the ‘Disney’s Zombies’ franchise.

Jeffery’s talent management company posted an official statement on her Instagram announcing her passing on 3 Sept.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on 1 Sept, 2026, at just 33 years old,” Carla Alexander of Alexanders Talent Management wrote in the statement.
She added: “For more than 20 years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant, and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room.”

She said that Jeffery was “more than a client; she was family”.
At the end of the statement, Alexander stated that “[their] hearts are with Carla’s family and loved ones during this devastating time”.
Best known as Bree in ‘Disney’s Zombies’ franchise
Jeffery was born in Houston, Texas, on 10 July, 1993.
Her first screen role was in the 2006 film ‘Phatz Girlz’, where she played a 10-year-old version of Mo’Nique’s character.
From 2007 to 2009, she had a recurring role as Keysha Black in HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.
The actress and singer prominently appeared in multiple TV shows and films on Disney Channel.
On Disney, she played Jean in ‘Good Luck Charlie’, Margie in ‘Shake It Up’ and ‘Mania in Spider-Man’.

Most fans would likely remember her role as the bubbly Seabrook High cheerleader Bree in Disney’s ‘Zombies’ franchise.
In 2018, Jeffery landed the role of Bree in the first ‘Zombies’ film.

Outside of Disney Channel, Jeffery played supporting roles in various TV shows such as Female Student on ‘Lie to Me’, Frumpy Girl #3 in ‘Scream Queens’, and ‘Shira’ in ABC’s ‘Suburgatory’.
She had a role on Nickelodeon’s ‘iCarly’ in 2008 and also portrayed Keysha Black in the television series ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.

Spoke openly about her experiences to fans
In the past, the actress spoke openly about having epilepsy, encouraging fans to discuss their disabilities.
In an interview in Aug 2025, Jeffery shares and dives deep into her personal experiences being ‘the Black girl’ on a Disney set.
“I want to cry because I guess I never thought I’d see myself as somebody’s inspiration. And then after [‘Zombies’] came out, and they made the costumes for people, seeing the girls dressed up like Bree, I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, they really talking about me’,” she said.

Jeffery’s brother and ‘Zombies’ co-stars send love to actress
Many across Hollywood and beyond, including her fellow Disney stars, shared their shock and disbelief over the news.
Jeffery’s ‘Zombies’ co-star Milo Manheim commented under the post: “Carla. The sweetest person I have ever met. I love you.”

Chandler Kinney, who starred in ‘Zombies 2’ and ‘Zombies 3’ with Jeffery, wrote: “The brightest shining light in any room she walked into. The kindest person you’d ever meet. The most beautiful soul. This doesn’t feel real.”

Jeffery’s twin brother, Carlon Jeffery, who is also an actor, shared his final love and wishes to his sister on Instagram.
In his Instagram stories, Jeffery’s brother shared a short clip of the actress prior to her death, and a heartfelt text message that he sent to Jeffery.
