Teen girl helps great-grandfather and brother escape house fire
A 14-year-old girl helped to evacuate her 84-year-old great-grandfather and 11-year-old brother after a fire broke out at their two-storey home in Roi Et Province in the evening of 12 Sept.
The fire started at around 5.30pm, according to police.
Firefighters from several local agencies were dispatched to the scene, where they found the half-wood, half-concrete house engulfed in flames.

Teenager led family out of burning home
At the time of the fire, the 14-year-old girl was inside the house with her great-grandfather and younger brother.
After noticing smoke and flames, she quickly guided both of them out of the burning building and to safety.
However, the teenager would later return to the house to retrieve her school bag and some school uniforms.

She was reportedly worried she would have nothing to wear for school the following day.
Electrical fault is suspected as the cause
The children’s grandmother, 52-year-old Patcharin (name transliterated from Thai), said she had left the house to run errands before the fire started.
She returned after neighbours alerted her and saw smoke coming from the property.
Residents said they heard a loud popping sound from the second floor before the flames spread quickly, leading them to suspect an electrical short circuit.
The fire took more than an hour to put out, as the house’s location at the end of a narrow alley posed significant challenges to responders.

Although the fire was eventually extinguished, the house and all the belongings inside were later found to have been destroyed.
Police are continuing investigations into the cause of the fire.
