Both Rolls-Royce & BYD drivers assisting police investigations into accident
An elderly woman was sent to the hospital on Friday (9 Oct) afternoon after a Rolls-Royce and a BYD electric car were involved in an accident opposite Clarke Quay.
Photos of the aftermath posted on Facebook showed that the Rolls-Royce had T-boned the BYD at the junction of New Bridge Road and Carpenter Street.

Both Rolls-Royce & BYD sustain damage in accident
According to the photos, the Rolls-Royce had apparently been travelling straight along New Bridge Road, while the BYD had turned into Carpenter Street when the collision occurred.
It resulted in damage to the Rolls-Royce’s front, with a large dent formed and its bumper and licence plate partially dislodged.
The door on the BYD’s left backseat passenger side caved in from the impact. Its airbags were also deployed.

Police, ambulance & tow truck arrive at the scene
A subsequent TikTok video, recorded from the upper deck of a bus, showed that the police and an ambulance had arrived at the scene.

Another photo on Facebook depicted paramedics pushing an injured person on a stretcher, possibly to be conveyed to the hospital.

In a post on X, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said at 3.21pm that the accident had occurred along New Bridge Road towards Hongkong Street.
Motorists were advised to avoid lane 4.

4 injured & 2 conveyed to SGH, including elderly woman
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the accident at about 2.40pm on 9 Oct.
It took place at the road junction of New Bridge Road and Carpenter Street, and involved two cars.
A 72-year-old female car passenger was sent to the hospital in a conscious state.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), which was alerted at the same time, told MS News that she was conveyed to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), along with another person.
Another two people were assessed for minor injuries, but they declined to be sent to the hospital.

Additionally, SPF said that the drivers of both cars were men, aged 48 and 76.
They are assisting with investigations.
Police investigations are ongoing.
