He was subsequently taken to National Taiwan University Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with an acute myocardial infarction, or heart attack.
Chen then underwent emergency surgery, which was successfully completed, before being transferred to the intensive care unit for further observation and recovery.
Wife rushed to hospital after hearing the news
His manager later confirmed the incident, saying he had suddenly felt unwell while watching the game and immediately sought medical attention.
The manager added that Chen’s condition was stable and that he was recovering under medical care.
Fan, who has been married to Chen since 2011 and with whom he shares twin sons, also rushed to National Taiwan University Hospital after learning about his condition.

She told NextApple that she was recording a new song when she received news that her husband had suffered an acute heart attack. She said she burst into tears and rushed straight to the hospital.
Fan also revealed that one of Chen’s blood vessels was 90% blocked, prompting doctors to insert a heart stent during the emergency procedure.
Despite having no previous history of heart disease, Chen had noticed that something was wrong and sought medical attention in time, which Fan said was fortunate given the severity of the blockage.
She added that Chen had originally planned to travel to Japan with their children for work, but she had persuaded him not to go.
Chen is currently recovering in the intensive care unit and is expected to be discharged as early as 17 Sept.
