M’sia presents S’pore with at least 3 cakes for National Day
In a continuation of a heartwarming tradition, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has again received cakes from its Malaysian counterparts for National Day.
Both sides noted that this reflected the strong partnership between the agencies across borders.

National Day cakes presented at both Woodlands & Tuas
In a Facebook post on National Day (9 Aug), ICA thanked the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) for the “thoughtful” gestures that were extended to officers at both Tuas and Woodlands Checkpoints.
At the Woodlands Causeway, representatives from the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex presented us with a large, rectangular cake.

A closer look revealed that its design features iconic Singapore landmarks like the Marina Bay Sands and Merlion, and a handshake at the centre amid fireworks.
Besides wishing us a Happy 61st National Day, the message contained the meaningful slogan, “Stronger Together, Brighter Tomorrow”.

Over at the Tuas Second Link, Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB) representatives handed over a square cake that appeared to be chocolate-flavoured.

A close-up showed that it was made up of many smaller cakes and topped with the Singapore flag and roses in our national colours.
The message included, “Go Beyond!”, which is the official theme for our 61st National Day.

3rd cake presented by M’sia
AKPS’ Facebook post on the same day revealed that BSI presented us with a third cake — this time, a round one.

Though the message on this one was simpler, it did have three cute figures of different races holding the Singapore flag.
They did this in front of fireworks, the Merlion and the Singapore Flyer.

Both sides highlight strong partnership
In its post, ICA said the meaningful gestures were a reflection of “the close cooperation between our checkpoints and our counterparts across the land borders”, adding:
We look forward to continuing our partnership and working closely together to keep our borders safe and secure.
AKPS maintained that both agencies “stand together with a shared responsibility”: smooth movement across the land borders, the strengthening of border security and serving people with “professionalism and dedication”.
The celebration of Singapore’s 61st birthday was not only that of our “remarkable journey” but also the “enduring friendship, cooperation and strong partnership” between the teams across the border, it noted, adding:
May our partnership continue to grow stronger, built on trust, teamwork, mutual respect and a shared mission.
