Car crashes after going around tunnel bend

According to the post on the SGRV ADMIN Facebook page, the accident occurred on 8 May at 7.18pm.

It involved a car driving into the tunnel on Merchant Road towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE). Heavy downpours that night left the roads wet with rainwater.

All seemed normal at first, with the camcar following a motorcycle and a silver Toyota Corolla.

The two vehicles ahead vanished around a left bend. Suddenly, the sound of a loud bang emanated from beyond the curve, followed by screeching tyres.

Netizens speculate car skidded on wet road

On Facebook, a netizen suggested that two bangs meant the car skidded on the wet road, crashed into the left side, and turned perpendicular before crashing into the right side.

One commenter said that the driver should move his car to be considerate and not cause a long traffic jam.

However, another user pointed out that the impact had deployed the airbag and it is not recommended to drive a vehicle after airbag deployment.
