Malaysian man dies in Johor Bahru car crash on 27 Feb
On 27 Feb, a 22-year-old man passed away after sustaining severe head injuries from a car crash in Johor Bahru (JB).

At around 4am that morning, he lost control of his car and crashed into a highway pillar, 8world News reported.
He died on the spot.
In the wake of the accident, claims of the stretch of road where it happened being hazardous have since arisen.
Man lost control of car & crashed into pillar
According to China Press, Lu Weijie (name transliterated from Mandarin), 22 — who worked in Singapore — lost control of his Nissan Grand Livina SUV in the wee hours of Tuesday (27 Feb) morning.
His car subsequently crashed into a pillar supporting an overpass or flyover on the Johor Bahru Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) Expressway.
The impact wrecked the vehicle’s body severely and resulted in Lu suffering serious head injuries.

He was pronounced dead on the spot. Lu will be cremated today (29 Feb), reported China Press.
Road section deemed prone to accidents
A separate article from China Press reported that the stretch of road where the crash took place is prone to accidents.
Facebook comments captured by the news site claimed that the area has thicker and higher deceleration lines due to its proximity to the Royal Palace in JB.
Furthermore, the curved bend increases road users’ likelihood of losing control of their vehicles if they drive too quickly.
Several netizens also highlighted that accidents tend to happen on the road at night or in the early morning.
In Oct 2023, a 27-year-old man died on the spot after his car rammed into the concrete pillar of a highway near Jalan Pasir Pelangi — where Lu also died — at night, reported The Star.
