Driver bypasses wheel clamp by changing locked tyre with spare one

He earlier parked in no-parking area

The officer filming the footage explained that the driver had parked in a no-parking area earlier.

“Got wheel-locked, but swapped out the wheel with a spare to dodge the fine? Doing this turns a minor traffic infraction into a criminal offence. Don’t even think about doing it!” the Original Poster (OP) wrote.

Officer clamped his wheel for illegal parking

In response to queries from MS News, the OP, identified as Pol. Cpl. Jakkapan Sontakhob (name transliterated from Thai), explained that the driver had parked his car in a no-parking area on 1 Phra Sumen Road, in front of Wat Bowonniwet Vihara on 2 Aug at around 11.30am.

When an officer arrived, the driver was nowhere to be found, prompting them to clamp the vehicle’s wheel.

The driver later returned to his car and discovered that the wheel had been locked. He then attempted to remove the wheel. At that time, there was no officer at the scene.

Upon witnessing his actions, an onlooker contacted the police.

Driver brought to investigating officer to acknowledge charges and fine

Responding to the scene, the officer caught the man removing the wheel and recorded the incident as evidence.

Eventually, the driver was brought to an investigating officer for notice of charges and fine assessment.

Pol. Cpl. Jakkapan clarified in his responses that the incident in the video was not his case.
