Drivers in Vietnam fined after transporting wedding procession on three-wheeled motorcycles
Police in Vietnam have fined four drivers after they were filmed transporting members of a wedding procession on three-wheeled motorcycles while allegedly committing multiple traffic offences.
According to local news, traffic police in Dong Thap Province said on 29 June that they had completed investigations into the case, which first came to their attention through reports shared by members of the public on Facebook.
Clips show wedding procession travelling along highway
Clips circulating online show four three-wheeled motorcycles travelling along a highway, with multiple passengers seated on chairs placed in the vehicles’ open rear cargo beds.
In the footage, some passengers can be seen raising their hands in celebration as buses pass by and sound their horns.

Police said the vehicles were travelling on National Highway 1 through My Duc Tay Commune in Dong Thap Province.
The motorcycles were found to have been carrying more passengers than permitted, while many of those on board were also not wearing helmets.

Following the reports, traffic police identified the drivers and summoned them for questioning.
Fines issued to four drivers
All four drivers later admitted to the violations.
One of them was fined 1.2 million dong (around S$60) for carrying three or more passengers and transporting passengers who were not wearing helmets.
He also had two points deducted from his driving licence.
The other three drivers were fined 10.7 million dong (around S$530) each for similar offences.
They were also penalised for driving without valid licences and operating vehicles without registration certificates.
Like the first driver, each of them had two points deducted from their driving licence.
According to police, the three drivers admitted that their vehicles did not have valid legal documents.
Their vehicles were subsequently confiscated in accordance with regulations.
