Egg Tart Stout Now Available in Australia Is Probably The Most ‘Asian’ Beer You’ll Ever Try

Egg Tart Stout Is Made From Lactose, Vanilla Beans, Candi-Sugar & Cinnamon

If there’s one pastry that every Asian around the world loves, it’s surely the smol yet oh-so-decadent egg tart, aka 蛋挞 in Mandarin.

Gweilo Beer and Rocky Ridge Brewery Co, alcohol companies from Hong Kong and Australia respectively, recently collaborated and ‘gave birth’ to Custard Tart Stout which is apparently inspired by the much-beloved Chinese pastry.

Egg tart stout pays homage to the Chinese pastry

According to The Crafty Pint, the Custard Tart Stout is one of Rocky Ridges‘ “fun” collaborations. Other creative beverages that they’ve released in the past include the Choc-Coconut Porter and the Shake and Bake Pavlova Milkshake IPA.

The stout uses Victory Malt, which gives it a toasty flavour replicating the taste of the crust, reports The Crafty Pint.

You might think that an egg tart stout sounds pretty weird as an alcoholic beverage, but Darleen’s – Rocky Ridges’ other venue – begs to differ.

When approached by MS News, a representative of the bar said that the stout has a beautiful finish and is “definitely a beer for everyone”.

Hong Kong-based brewery Gweilo probably had the last say in deciding the flavour profile. so you can definitely trust its authenticity.
