FairPrice Selling Live Prawns At Bedok, Woodlands & Khatib At S$19.90 Per Kg
Earlier this year, FairPrice set up trucks selling live tiger prawns at the very affordable price of S$19.90 per kg.
Unsurprisingly, the deal was a huge hit, with customers forming long queues to score fresh seafood for their Chinese New Year reunion dinners.
If you missed the promo last time, you’ll be happy to know that it has returned — just in time for Hari Raya.

The sale will be happening at Bedok North, followed by Woodlands and Khatib.
FairPrice live prawns sale till 21 Apr
FairPrice posted about the promotion on Facebook on Wednesday (19 Apr), saying that it has 3,000kg of live tiger prawns going at “nearly half the market rate” for Hari Raya.
The supermarket chain noted that it’s “committed to help moderate the cost of living” and worked with farmers and suppliers to bring customers this deal.
Here’s when, what time, and where the promotion will take place:
- 19 Apr, from 9am — FairPrice @ Bedok, 212 Bedok North Street 1
- 20 Apr, from 9am — FairPrice @ Woodlands Civic Centre, 900 S Woodlands Drive
- 21 Apr, from 9am — Fairprice @ Khatib, 849 Yishun Ring Road

About 1,000kg of prawns will be available for sale each day, while stocks last, till Friday (21 Apr).
Do note that each customer is limited to 5kg of prawns for each purchase.
Long queue spotted at FairPrice Bedok
Just like the last time, the sale appeared to draw long lines of customers eager to stock up on fresh prawns.
Celebrity chef Siti Mastura did a live stream of the event in Bedok as soon as it started, which showed a queue forming at the side of the supermarket.

It got noticeably busier towards the entrance, where staff were seen expertly scooping prawns into plastic bags based on customers’ orders.

The demand doesn’t come as a surprise — despite the affordable price, the tiger prawns are huge, not to mention jumping fresh.

To keep the prawns fresh, FairPrice recommends the following steps:
- Rinse the prawns before putting them into a container
- Fill the container with water and add one to two tablespoons of sugar
- Keep the container in the freezer until it’s time to cook them

Hari Raya Puasa falls this Saturday (22 Apr), which means it’s time to start planning for all those delicious feasts.
