Female teacher found dead in school toilet

A 55-year-old female teacher was found dead in the female teachers’ toilet at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bau in Sarawak, Malaysia, on Wednesday morning (5 Aug).

Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said police received a report about the incident at around 8.53am, before officers were sent to the school.

The teacher, who had taught Science and Biology at the school for 25 years, was found lying unconscious on the floor of the toilet.

Mohd Haide said the teacher was last seen by a colleague in the staff room at around 8.15am, before she went to the toilet.

About 20 minutes later, another teacher noticed that she had not arrived for her class.

A colleague then went to look for her and found her inside the toilet.

Emergency services were contacted, but medical personnel from Bau Hospital pronounced her dead at the scene at 9.08am.

No suspicious injuries found

Initial police checks found no suspicious injuries on the woman’s body and no signs of criminal elements.

Her body was taken to Bau Hospital for an autopsy, with police classifying the case as a sudden death pending the examination results.

Authorities are continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.
