Glenn Ong Hits Back At Former MediaCorp Colleagues Over “Weak Soldiers” Comment

The Egoman trashes ex-Mediacorp colleagues

In a recent interview with the Straits Times, Glenn Ong informed us that his loyal fans from social media have been asking him about his return on air. Fans have been complaining that the current breakfast show is “crappy and juvenile”.

Glenn Ong responded with absolute sass:

I told them I absolutely agree with them because those guys are used to entertaining seven-year-old kids.

Muttons’ comments affected Glenn’s ego

In Feburary, after Glenn Ong, The Flying Dutchman, and Bobby Tonelli left Class 95, The Muttons used an interview with 8 Days magazine to throw some shade at the DJs who left the station.

8 Days: So, why did those DJs leave?

Vernon: Well, for a lot of them, it wasn’t their choice.

Justin: I would say that for almost all of them who have left, there’s a reason the company didn’t bother to keep them.

Vernon: For many years, ratings never bothered us ‘cos we were the biggest and only player, but because of the current competition, it’s a battlefield. So you really have to cut what you don’t need and get people you need – hence we have Jamie Yeo coming back and all. It’s kind of like a war strategy, to fight the competition.

Justin: You know how Hitler would bring the weak soldiers into a room and shoot them, then conscript the young, stronger guys?

The Muttons consist of Justin Ang and Vernon A, who took over Glenn and FD’s breakfast timeslot.

Glenn Ong was disappointed with the comments made and he took to Twitter to express his views.

His reasons for leaving

Glenn and The Flying Dutchman both left Mediacorp radio within weeks of each other in January 2015. At the time, Glenn said wanted more time for his personal life as he wanted to enjoy travelling and train on Mixed Martial Arts. He also became a director at F&B and hospitality consulting firm Cir Vis, a position that he says he still holds today.

The Flying Dutchman, on the other hand, wanted to concentrate on his new business venture in Bintan.

Conclusion on the feud

The Muttons caused a stir in the social media when they throw the shade at 8 Days interview.

Former MediaCorp 987FM DJ Dee Kosh used Twitter to disagree.

Glenn Ong response to the Muttons shade seems a little late.

Why take 4 months to comment on such minor shade?

New morning show on ONE FM 91.3

We’re not saying his comments might have anything to with his new show, but Glenn is indeed starting a new job on rival radio station ONE FM 91.3.

Glenn Ong and The Flying Dutchman have joined ONE FM 91.3 Breakfast Show, with the duo revealing themselves on Monday (6 July) morning.

The ultimate duo were on air from 8am to 10am on Monday, and begun full duties from yesterday (7 July), taking over the 6am to 10am slot. They will be joining the previous ONE FM 91.3 morning DJs, Andre Hoeden and Elliott Danker, as a part of a four-man team.
