Man became agitated after trade-in couldn’t proceed, says VivoCity phone shop
A 19-year-old man is assisting police investigations after he damaged fixtures at a phone shop in VivoCity and hit a security officer.
Footage of the incident posted by @sgfollowsall on Instagram showed the teenager pummeling the other man with his fist in full view of startled shoppers.

Man throws items at VivoCity phone shop staff
Earlier in the clip, the bespectacled teenager in a red T-shirt was seen throwing items at a staff member of Mister Mobile, which is located on the second floor of the mall in HarbourFront.

When the staff member did not retaliate, he turned his attention to some cables at the counter and started winding them around a pole for some reason.

Later, the teenager stood next to the shop while the staff spoke on the phone.

Teenager hits officer, stopped by man
The video then cut to the teenager manhandling a standee as a man wearing a vest, ostensibly mall security, tried to stop him.

The teenager then lashed out at the other man, hitting him twice.

At this point, a third man stepped between them to stop the fight, and appeared to coax and calm the teenager down.

They then appeared to make up as the teenager repeatedly flashed the thumbs-up sign.
He was subsequently helped away by the men.

In @sgfollowsall’s post, the person who recorded the video noted that the incident happened at about 2.30pm on Friday (25 Sept).
The witness did not know much, but said they saw the teenager venting his anger on the shop staff and hitting the VivoCity staff.

In a comment on the post, Mister Mobile confirmed that the incident took place at its VivoCity outlet on Friday afternoon.
The individual had become agitated after a trade-in could not proceed, and returned later to damage some of its shop fixtures.

Its team members are safe and did not need medical attention.
It thanked VivoCity security, the kind passer-by who helped and the police for their response.
Police now handling the matter
Mister Mobile also said that the matter is “now with the police” and it will not comment further.
The shop will be handing over CCTV footage to assist investigations, it noted, adding:
We understand the individual may be going through a difficult time, and we kindly ask everyone to refrain from speculation.
Teenager assisting probe for mischief & voluntarily causing hurt
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it received a call for assistance at about 2.35pm on 25 Sept.
The location was 1 Harbourfront Walk — the address of VivoCity.
No injuries were reported, but a 19-year-old man is assisting with investigations for mischief and voluntarily causing hurt.
Police investigations are ongoing.
