After three days of closure, normal MRT service will resume at Simei station, as well as the rest of the East-West Line (EWL), tomorrow (10 Dec).

MRT service going back to normal between Tanah Merah & Tampines

LTA revealed that EWL train service between Tanah Merah and Tampines would be back to normal from the start of passenger service hours on Tuesday.

This comes after new tracks were laid to connect the EWL to the new East Coast Integrated Depot, it said, adding:

We’ve completed comprehensive testing, including safety and ultrasonic tests on the tracks, power supply and train signalling systems.

It expressed gratefulness to the more than 500 workers, contractors, and crowd marshalls who had been working tirelessly on the tracks and assisting commuters on the ground, as well as commuters for their patience and understanding.

In an earlier post on Monday afternoon, LTA said EWL track works had been completed and testing was underway.

Transport Minister thanks workers, staff & commuters

Transport Chee Hong Tat, in a Facebook post of his own, said he was glad that the track works and “rigorous” testing were completed one day ahead of schedule.

He thanked public transport workers and staff for their hard work over the past three days.

This included engineers, technicians and workers who were laying the tracks “around the clock”, planning and testing, as well as bus captains providing shuttle services between the affected stations.
