S’pore Navy Sailors Sing ‘Home’ From Ship They’ll Be Staying On For Coming Weeks

Singapore Navy Sailors Give Rousing Performance Of ‘Home’

At 7.55pm yesterday (25 Apr), many estates across Singapore were filled with voices of people singing ‘Home’ from their apartments, cheering on frontline workers battling the Covid-19 outbreak.

A band of sailors from the Singapore Navy also joined the initiative.

In a 3-minute video uploaded by the Singapore Navy, the RSS Intrepid crew were heard singing the patriotic song from the ship they’ll be calling home for the coming weeks.

The clip starts off with a lone female sailor singing the song that every Singaporean is familiar with.

As she ends the prelude with the words “I look around me and I know”, a group of roughly 50 sailors joined in.

The choir subsequently sang the song while seated in a staggered formation next to the RSS Intrepid vessel.

As they repeated the chorus for the 3rd time, the sailors whipped out their phones with the flashlights on, just like what other Singaporeans did from their homes.

Their voices echoed through the otherwise silent night, and the illumination they brought were like stars shining down on frontline workers as well as patients battling the virus.

Sailors’ hearts will be with Singapore even though they are far from home

We’re truly touched by the performance put up by the Singapore Navy sailors.

While their home for the coming weeks will be quite far away from their actual abodes, we’re sure their hearts and minds will continue to be with Singapore in its fight against the Covid-19 outbreak.
