S’pore Man Told By Wife To Discard Old PC Games, Someone Offers To Take All

Man In Singapore Gets Rid Of Old PC Games At Wife’s Behest

Some of us would have fond memories of sneaking out to neighbourhood shops just to snatch the physical disc for the latest video or Personal Computer (PC) game.

As time went on and technology progressed, these discs grew less useful and began gathering dust in our houses.

Being forced to sell them off is an experience many of us – and this man in Singapore – can relate to.

After being told by his wife to sell the games, he took to Facebook to look for an interested buyer. Fortunately, one such individual approached him to buy the items.

Man lets go of old PC games

Posting to Facebook on Sunday (19 Feb), the OP shared that he was looking for a buyer to purchase his old PC game discs.

His wife persuaded him to discard them and as such, he’d taken to Facebook to search for someone who may be interested.

“Today was a sad day,” he bemoaned, referring to the loss of the discs. “Only 80s and 90s kids will know.”

The OP attached several pictures of the games in his possession. Stored carefully in several boxes, they clearly hold much significance for him.

The discs included classics such as ‘Command & Conquer’, ‘Dune 2000’ and even the much-coveted ‘Star Wars: X-Wing’.

Netizens share recommendations on handling games

Quite a few users expressed amazement at the OP’s vast collection. After all, finding anyone with a copy of a vintage ‘Escape From Monkey Island’ disc is rare.

The pictures sparked a fair bit of nostalgia among users as well.

Many reminisced about their own experiences playing the games in their youth.

One commenter suggested keeping the digital codes of the game before throwing the physical discs.

This would be ideal, he said, as many such games are now online under Steam, a popular digital distribution service.

Yet others recommended auctioning off or selling the games on Carousell.

This, they said, would be far better than simply giving such a valuable collection away.

However, it seems that the OP has found a potential new owner for the entire collection. He updated in a comment on his post that “one bro had pinged him (me) to take all”.

Whether the person was going to buy or simply take the collection is unclear.

MS News has reached out to the OP for more information. We’ll update the article if he gets back.

Hope new owner will cherish precious collection

However the handover of the precious collection unfolds, we hope that the games will be going to a good home.

After all, the previous owner has evidently taken such good care of all the discs, so we can only expect the new owner to do the same.
