These Shots Of Singapore Flags Show Them Hanging Beautifully From High-Rise Buildings

It’s Singapore’s 54th birthday and for a few weeks now, residents have been showcasing their patriotism by hanging the national flag at their residential blocks.

Doing this may be a simple act, but it takes mad skills to capture the perfect shot of this stunning view.

Talented photographers take up this challenge annually, proudly displaying their best work on Instagram.

Making good use of the hashtag #SG54, we compile some of the best photos to inspire the patriot in you for National Day.

1. HDB blocks in Chinatown

We are in love with the warm, pastel hues of this shot, taken by photographer Eric.

The framing also captures the slightly curved buildings, boasting arrays of Singapore flags against the blue moon, orange stars, and yellow sun motifs.

2. HDB blocks along Selegie Road

Photographer Liyang, captured this with his Sony A7iii. He captioned this as:

Years and Years.
Shot at same spot with same angle in different year.
Thanks @smilewithjeryl for organizing the photowalk.

These cluster of HDB blocks along Selegie Road is a hot spot for aesthetic patriotic shots, as seen below.

3. Selegie Road HDBs through the eyes of Luke

This satisfyingly uniform shot was taken by photographer Luke.

On every balcony, red and white flags hung proudly against the contrasting grey wall.

Photographer Luke captioned this: United We Stand.

4. Selegie Road HDBs through the eyes of Joseph Yeo

Here’s a different take on national flags hanging from the balconies of Selegie Road HDB. They form a heart shape, as photographed by Joseph Yeo.

Expressing his love for Singapore, he captioned this picture: Singapore, Where I Belong.

5. Swissôtel The Stamford

Timed perfectly, this picture was skilfully taken by photographer Allan Tee.

It shows a parachutist making his graceful descend in front of the Swissôtel The Stamford hotel, where Singapore flags are hanging from each room.

6. HDB flats in Yishun

Shot with the flag in the middle of the picture, this photo was taken by photographer Yip Wai Hoong.

With the the flag hanging in mid-air, it contrasts beautifully against the blue hues of the sky and buildings. The photo was aptly captioned: Flying High.

Showing national pride with Singapore flags

As depicted in the images above, it’s heartening to see Singaporeans wearing their national pride on their sleeves — in this case, their balconies.

These pictures also effectively capture Singapore as a beautiful country, and speaking as a citizen, being able to reside here is truly a privilege.

MS News wishes Singapore a Happy 54th Birthday.
